As a periodontist, again going back to the foundation, dentistry can be done in any mouth, but if you’re going to have good long-lasting dentistry, one it’s has got to have a solid foundation. Certainly implants can be done in many areas, but with that, you also need to have adequate amount of bone and adequate amount of soft tissue. As a periodontist, we are trained to be able to provide this service to the patients.
We also have Dr. Birch, who is with us, who is magnificent when it comes to doing endodontic treatment. John revels in the ability to get to the difficult canals and do a magnificent job for our patients, because implants are nice, but it’s nice to have teeth. When you have teeth, you always have that option of taking the teeth out. But once you have the teeth out, you’re limited to your options. So John does a marvelous job with being able to help people retain and maintain the teeth that they have.
We try to give the patient everything that they want within the framework that they have described to us. When patients come to us, they want to know three things. Number one, they want to know if we can be trusted. Number two, they want to know what they need to do and number three, they need to know what the cost is. So we endeavor to be able to show them on that first appointment, how they are able to trust us and how we can also work with them to be able to get the price of dentistry to work within their budget. People don’t buy houses. People don’t buy cars. They buy what fits into their budget. And dentistry is a discretionary option that we have and is our responsibility as an office to help the patients find a way to be able to fit that into the budget so they can get the necessary dentistry to make them look good and feel good and last a long time.
