Few things are as impactful on your oral health as missing teeth.
Losing even a single tooth can set you on a path to declining oral and overall health. This is one of the reasons we are big fans of dental implants for our patients in and around Cumming, GA.
Implants can give you replacement teeth that feel and function as well (and maybe better) than healthy, natural teeth.

What are Implants?
Dental implants are replacements for the roots of lost teeth. Various styles of implants were developed in the 20th century. What we know as modern implants have been around since the 1960s.
Dr. Per-Ingvar Brånemark, a Swedish physician, was doing research on blood flow in rabbits. He had placed a titanium rod in the rabbit’s bone. His intention was to remove and replace this rod as needed. Instead, he discovered something that changed restorative dental care. The rabbit’s bone had bonded to the titanium, so it couldn’t be removed.
Rather than become discouraged, he set out on a new path. After assembling a team of professionals, he placed the first set of dental implants in a human patient in 1965. Those implants lasted until the end of that patient’s life more than 40 years later.
Since then, new innovations have improved on Dr. Brånemark’s basic design. Today’s implants come in a variety of sizes, and new techniques have been developed to help people get the benefits of implants even sooner.
By acting as replacement roots, your implants keep your restorations secure and stable. Since they are placed directly in your jaw, they allow you to bite with more than enough force to eat a wide variety of food without the need for special adhesives. This also provides stimulation to your jaw, which keeps it healthy and strong.
Make Your New Teeth Stronger
You can get implants for any teeth replacements. At our office, you also have options, so you can feel confident about getting the right implants for your needs.
- Standard Implants – These can be and have been used to support a dental crown, dental bridge, or dentures.
- Mini Implants – If your jaw has lost bone density (a common occurrence with tooth loss), it may not be able to support standard implants. Mini implants often can be used instead in those situations.
- All-on-4® Implants – This is an advanced technique that uses few implants, but also allows you to get replacement teeth on the same day that you get your implants.
